What if I do not have a Kindle ereader?

If you do not have a Kindle, fret not. There are alternative ways that you can read your ebook while on the go.

Reading ebooks on any device is easy!

How to read ebooks on your computer: Kindle Cloud Reader

If you’re purchasing books from Amazon, readers can access the Kindle Cloud Reader on their browser – it’s a website that syncs with your Amazon account and showcases your ebook library. It works on every browser and you can start using it by visiting Readers can start browsing books and read instantly.

Amazon is a good choice as it offers the world’s most extensive catalogue of ebooks, magazines and other read materials. Most of them are free for download as well, particularly the public domain works.

One of the coolest things about using Kindle Cloud is that if you’re reading something on one of your devices and then you are off somewhere without that tablet, you can use another device and pick up at the page where you left off.

Using Chrome Extensions (for Google Play Books & Nook)

The Nook Reading App and Google Play books are two apps available on Chrome which, like the Amazon Kindle Cloud reader, allows you to access ebooks and allow you to read them directly in the browser. Readers only need an account with Barnes and Noble (B&N) or Google to read books using the browser apps and similarly, an ereader is not required.

You can find both apps on the Chrome Web Store and install it.

There are also standalone programs for Kindle and Nook!

If you prefer using standalone programs on your computer, instead of relying on your Internet browser, both Kindle and Nook offer free software that you can download to read books on your computer.

Once you have downloaded and installed the software on your computer you can now begin to browse ebooks you have purchased/downloaded and begin reading — all without having an ereader!

In the following links above, select the option for “Download for PC & Mac”.
